Meet Chantel

Naturopath, herbalist, microbiome educator, and mentor.

Hi, I’m Chantel Yates

I am passionate about my family, nature, the ocean and all things health and healing. When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me in the garden or ocean, walking the beach with my dog or adventuring in the wilderness with my beautiful family. I love lutruwita Tasmania - this wild island I call home.

For the past 18 years, I’ve walked alongside people navigating complex gut issues, food fear, and the quiet grief that can come with feeling dismissed, restricted, or confused by their own body. My practice has always been about more than protocols. It’s about creating space—clinical, emotional, nervous-system space—for healing to unfold.

I work from a place of integrity, curiosity, and deep respect for both science and nature. My approach blends rigorous clinical training with a slow, relational style of care. Whether I’m supporting a patient through microbiome restoration or mentoring a practitioner through case uncertainty, my focus is the same: clarity, nourishment, and grounded confidence.

From burnout to balance: why this work matters

In the first 15 years of my career, I delivered high-quality care—often at a pace that left little space for recovery or true depth. I burned out. Twice. I experienced the life stopping and debilitating of CFS/ME (chronic fatigue) for over 5 years. And through those experiences, I realised that sustainability isn't just a concept I apply to herbs or health systems. It has to apply to how we practise too.

Starting this business was a conscious decision to do things differently:

  • To build a practice that moves slowly and intentionally.

  • To make room for complexity, for nervous system safety, for rest, for real conversations.

  • To create a model of care that doesn’t just sound holistic, but feels it—right down to how we schedule, communicate, and prescribe.

What I believe

This work is guided by values that show up in every session, group, retreat, and email:

  • Integrity – Honest, transparent, and evidence-informed care—free from hype or fear.

  • Sustainability – Respect for people, plants, and the planet. Clinical pace and herbal sourcing that align with long-term wellness.

  • Compassion – An inclusive, trauma-aware, human approach to care that meets you where you are.

  • Empowerment – You’re not just handed a protocol. You’re invited to understand and participate in your own healing.

  • Reciprocity – Acknowledging the traditions, land, and ecosystems that make this work possible—and giving back through mentoring, education, and meaningful contributions to community and environmental wellbeing..

  • Curiosity – A deep commitment to lifelong learning and clinical evolution.

  • Connection – Between gut and brain, clinician and client, humans and earth.

  • "Chantel is the ultimate microbiome mentor we all wish we had on speed dial! Her expertise is unparalleled. As a busy clinician, having a trusted resource for complex and challenging cases is invaluable. Chantel’s guidance is always immediately applicable, and I’m incredibly grateful for her support."
